About Me

Hi, I’m Kelly Maibaum, the photographer and owner behind HomePix LLC.  I’d like to share a little about my background, purpose and goals so you’re comfortable partnering with me.

Background

Prior industry experience

Before launching HomePix, I worked for Glorifying Design and Staging, which gave me hands-on experience in how design and staging can transform a space. I later worked with Woods Basement Systems, learning the structural side of homes — foundations, layouts, and how a house comes together. Pairing that with my formal training in art, lighting, and design gave me the skills I now bring to every shoot.

I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art and Design. Photography has been part of my life since I was 17, when I photographed my first wedding. From there, I shot portraits, graduations, and creative projects, but I always felt like something was missing. I wanted my work to have more purpose.

That purpose came when I combined two lifelong passions: photography and real estate. My family has been involved in real estate investing for as long as I can remember, and my mom worked as a Realtor and home stager so I grew up surrounded by conversations about homes, design, and investing.  When Realtor Linda Campbell encouraged me to photograph a property for her, it all clicked. Since then, I’ve photographed numerous homes, earned my drone certification, and designed and built my own website to make partnering with me as seamless as possible.

Why Real Estate Photography

I love real estate photography because it beautifully blends creativity with purpose. While portrait work captures people’s emotions, photographing homes allows me to tell a story about space, design, and lifestyle. I love using light, composition, and proportion to create images that help buyers imagine themselves in a home. And when my photos help a property go under contract quickly, it feels incredibly rewarding to know my work played a role in making that happen. Real estate photography connects people with spaces in a tangible way, and that’s what inspires me every day.

Interests outside photography

Outside of real estate photography, you’ll often find me on the lake water skiing at Holiday Shores, hiking or spending time outdoors, painting or drawing, or in the kitchen trying out new recipes. I also love to travel, read, and explore new creative outlets. Some of my favorite personal photography moments have been capturing the northern lights in Alaska at –20°, or wandering through the streets of Rome with my camera in hand.

Looking Ahead

My goal is to become the go-to real estate photographer in the Metro East — the person agents think of first when someone asks, “Do you know a good photographer?”. I know how busy and unpredictable a Realtor’s job can be, so I focus on being reliable, efficient, and easy to work with. For me, it’s about more than just photos — it’s about supporting the people who make this industry thrive. When I deliver images that make homes shine, I’m not just helping a listing stand out, I’m helping sellers, buyers, and every professional connected to the transaction. That sense of purpose is why I love what I do and why I’m so excited for the future of HomePix.
